Rehearsal Schedule

We are keeping to our usual rehearsal schedule but are going to try out a new venue for Friday and Saturday so we can all stay together. We hope this will be a socially successful event as well as a musical triumph!

We have reserved rooms at the Lensbury Club which is set in 25 acres of beautiful grounds and gardens on the banks of the River Thames at Teddington Lock, conveniently located for London (30 min from Waterloo by train), Gatwick and Heathrow airports and the M25. We have negotiated the member's rate for rooms ( £50 single; £71 double or twin standard room - there are also more expensive rooms/suites) which is less than London hotel rates.
As well as accommodation the Lensbury will provide a venue for drinks reception after the Friday rehearsal and for a dinner on the Saturday evening. Transfer to the Royal Academy after breakfast on the Sunday morning will be by coach for those who need it for our final run through in the Duke's Hall.

I hope you will all (including you who live in London) come and stay and bring husbands, wives and children to the weekend to join in the social events and come to the concert on Sunday afternoon. The Lensbury has gardens down to the river ( although it is November!) and has a swimming pool, spa, tennis, golf and play areas for young and older children - as well as restaurants and bars. It is a short (10 min) walk from Teddington station (there is a shuttle bus).

REHEARSALS will be ten minutes walk away at the Langdon Down Centre - Dr John Langdon Down described a group of mental patients with mongolian features in 1866 - Mongolian idiots were reclassified as 'Down's syndrome' in 1965. The old Victorian theatre in his pioneering Normansfield asylum has been refurbished and we can rehearse there - there are breakout rooms for sectional rehearsals.

While the musicians rehearse others can visit Richmond on Thames, Kingston, Kew gardens or Hampton Court Palace and Gardens, all within 15 minutes by taxi or bus.

We look forward to welcoming you to London in November
