Update on EDO planning and activity during COVID

As a result of continuing uncertainty linked to the COVID -19 pandemic the Trustees regret to announce that our planned summer concert in Dublin will be postponed to some time in the future.  Additionally there is a possibility that the autumn event in Glasgow may change format to become a workshop style event with play-through at end.  Planning of the event is still under consideration as details of travel possibilities and COVID precautions develop and hopefully become more certain.

During the pandemic we have worked to engage players via online masterclass events given by recent conductors, while at the same time raising money for charity.  In October 2020 and January 2021, Tim Redmond talked about music and travel and how changing where a composer lives influences their work, through history up to the present day.  In November 2020, Rupert Bond talked about Beethoven and his 3rd Symphony. In March 2021, Peter Stark talked about the art and skills of conducting and then the orchestra discussed through Q&A various aspects of how the orchestra and conductor work together.  To date, these fascinating and inspirational events have raised £2860 for the Help Musicians Coronavirus Hardship Fund. Further online events are being planned.  As dates are confirmed we will update the website and send invites via section organisers as usual.
